How to Reset a TTLock Smart Lock the Right Way

To reset a TTLock smart lock, open the battery compartment and press the recessed reset button for several seconds until the lock beeps or flashes. This wipes all stored passcodes, cards, fingerprints and eKeys, but it does not remove the lock from another admin's account — the account binding is only cleared if the lock is unpaired first or reset from a device it currently trusts.

When you'd need to reset a lock

A reset is usually needed to clear a lock with corrupted data, to start fresh before selling or reassigning a lock, or to recover access when the current admin account is lost. It is a physical, hardware-level action, distinct from deleting a lock inside the app.

    • You've lost admin access. The admin's phone, account, or password is gone and there is no other admin to release the lock from the app.
    • The lock behaves erratically. Passcodes stop matching, or fingerprints fail consistently, suggesting corrupted internal storage.
    • You're preparing to sell or reassign the lock. A reset clears your data before handing the lock to a new owner.
    • A previous owner's account still holds the lock. If unbinding through the app isn't possible, a physical reset is the fallback.

    How to reset the lock

    1. Unbind it from your account first, if you have access. In the app, open the lock's settings and choose delete/remove. This is cleaner than a physical reset because it also clears the cloud-side record tying the lock to your account.
    2. Open the battery compartment. On most models this is on the interior escutcheon; remove the cover to expose the battery contacts.
    3. Locate the reset button. It is usually a small recessed button near the batteries, sometimes labelled "SET" or "RESET".
    4. Press and hold with batteries installed. Typically five seconds or until the lock beeps, flashes, or the keypad lights up in a distinct pattern. Exact timing varies by model — check your lock's manual if unsure.
    5. Release and confirm. The lock should indicate a successful reset with a tone or light sequence, and will now be discoverable as an unbound device.
    6. Re-add the lock in the app as a fresh device to restore admin access, then re-create passcodes, cards, fingerprints and eKeys for every user.

What a reset clears — and what it doesn't

Cleared by a resetNot affected by a reset
All passcodes (permanent, timed, one-time, cyclic)Physical wear on the lock mechanism
All stored fingerprints and cardsBatteries and hardware firmware version
All eKeys shared with other usersThe account it's bound to, from another admin's point of view
The admin binding on the lock itselfAny paired gateway's own configuration

The important nuance: resetting the physical lock clears its local memory, but it does not automatically remove the lock from a former owner's account list in the cloud. If you bought a lock secondhand and reset it, the previous owner's app may still show the lock listed until they manually delete it, even though it will no longer respond to their commands. In practice this rarely causes access problems for the new owner since a reset lock is fully open to being re-paired, but the seller should still remove it from their own account for tidiness and privacy.

    If that didn't work

    • No beep or reaction to the reset button? Check the batteries are fresh and correctly oriented; a reset button often needs enough power to register the press.
    • Reset succeeded but the app still can't find it? See the lock-not-found troubleshooting guide for pairing-mode and permission issues.
    • Can't locate the reset button on your model? Button placement and hold-time vary across manufacturers using the TTLock platform, so check the printed manual or the label inside the battery cover.
    • Smart Lukko is an independent third-party app for TTLock-compatible locks and is not affiliated with TTLock or Sciener; exact reset procedures can differ slightly between hardware brands.

    Frequently asked questions

Where is the reset button on a TTLock smart lock?

On most models it is a small recessed button inside the battery compartment on the interior side of the lock, near the battery contacts. Some labels read 'SET' or 'RESET'; check your lock's manual for exact placement.

Does resetting a TTLock lock delete all passcodes and fingerprints?

Yes. A reset wipes every passcode, card, fingerprint and eKey stored on the lock, along with the admin binding. You'll need to re-add all users after re-pairing.

Does a reset remove the lock from a previous owner's app?

Not automatically. A physical reset clears the lock's local memory and admin binding so it can be re-paired, but the lock may still appear in a former owner's account list until they manually delete it there.

Should I delete the lock in the app before resetting it?

If you still have admin access, yes — deleting it in the app first cleanly removes the cloud-side record. Use the physical reset button only when app access isn't available.

Will a factory reset fix a lock with corrupted passcodes?

In most cases yes, since a reset clears all locally stored access data. If problems persist after re-pairing and re-adding users, the issue is more likely a hardware fault than corrupted data.
