TTLock Model Compatibility Matrix: What Depends on What

Not every TTLock-compatible lock supports every feature, and not every feature that a lock supports works without a gateway or the right app permissions. Passcodes, IC cards and fingerprints depend on hardware built into the lock; remote unlock and remote passcode delivery depend on a gateway being online; and a few settings, like passage mode windows, depend on the admin's app permissions rather than the lock itself.

    How to read this matrix

Smart Lukko is an independent third-party app for TTLock-compatible smart locks and is not affiliated with TTLock or Sciener. Because "TTLock-compatible" covers hardware from many manufacturers, feature availability varies by model far more than it varies by app. The table below groups each capability by what it actually depends on: physical hardware built into the lock, a gateway bridging it to the internet, or app-side configuration that any compatible app can set.

    • Hardware-dependent. The lock either has the sensor or module, or it doesn't. No app, gateway or firmware update can add a fingerprint reader to a keypad-only lock.
    • Gateway-dependent. The lock supports the feature locally over Bluetooth, but using it remotely — from outside Bluetooth range — requires a gateway online and bound to the lock.
    • App/permission-dependent. The lock supports it in hardware and the gateway isn't involved; whether it's available to a given user depends on their role (admin vs authorised user) in the app.

    Feature compatibility matrix

    FeatureDepends onWorks without a gateway?Notes
    Passcodes (offline)Hardware (keypad)YesNeeds a physical keypad; keypad-less deadbolts can't take a typed code.
IC / RFID cardsHardware (card reader)YesNot every model has a card reader; check the listing before buying cards.
FingerprintHardware (sensor)YesStorage capacity for fingerprints is usually modest and shared across users.
Bluetooth unlock (in range)Hardware (BLE radio)YesPresent on essentially all TTLock-compatible locks; this is the baseline connection.
Remote unlock (out of range)GatewayNoRequires a gateway bound to the lock and connected to the internet.
Send a passcode remotely to a new phoneGatewayNoCreating the code works offline; delivering it to the lock instantly needs a gateway.
Passage mode (door stays unlocked during a window)Hardware + app permissionYes, to set locallyMost models support it; only admins can usually schedule it.
Auto lock (relock after N seconds)HardwareYesTimer range varies by model; some locks fix it, others let admins adjust it.
Unlock records / historyHardware, synced via app or gatewayPartiallyRecords store on the lock and sync to the app on connection; a gateway keeps history current without a visit.
Sharing an eKey with another userApp/permissionYesHandled entirely by the app and cloud account, independent of gateway presence.

How to verify what your specific lock supports

Because capability is set by the manufacturer, the only reliable way to confirm what a particular lock supports is to check it directly rather than assume from the general table above.

    1. Look at the physical lock. A card reader, fingerprint sensor and keypad are all visible; if the slot or panel isn't there, the lock doesn't support that credential type.
    2. Open the add-credential screens in the app. Add-a-passcode, add-a-card and add-a-fingerprint options are typically hidden or greyed out for hardware the lock doesn't have.
    3. Check whether a gateway is bound. The lock's detail screen in the app usually shows connection status; if no gateway is listed, remote operations will fail even though local Bluetooth ones work fine.
    4. Confirm your role on the lock. Passage mode scheduling and some settings are admin-only; an authorised user account without admin rights won't see those controls even on fully capable hardware.

    Frequently asked questions

Does every TTLock-compatible lock support fingerprints?

No. Fingerprint support requires a physical sensor built into the lock, and many keypad-only or card-only models don't have one. Check the lock's own listing or look for the sensor panel physically.

Can I unlock remotely without a gateway?

No. Remote unlock and remote passcode delivery both require a gateway bound to the lock and connected to the internet. Without one, operations only work over Bluetooth within range.

Why can't I schedule passage mode even though my lock supports it?

Passage mode scheduling is usually restricted to the lock's admin account. If you were added as an authorised user rather than an admin, that control may not appear in your app.

Do unlock records need a gateway to work at all?

No, the lock stores records locally regardless of a gateway. A gateway just keeps the app's copy of the history current automatically; without one, records sync the next time a phone connects over Bluetooth.

Is auto lock available on every lock?

Most TTLock-compatible locks include an auto lock timer, but the adjustable range and whether it can be disabled varies by model. Check the lock's settings screen in the app to confirm.
