TTLock Multiple Admins: How to Add a Second Admin

TTLock-compatible locks follow a single-owner model, but that owner can grant a second person admin-level access by sharing an administrator eKey rather than a normal one. The second admin can then add or remove passcodes, cards and other eKeys, but they cannot remove the original owner or change who ultimately controls the lock's account binding.

    What you need

    • An admin account already bound to the lock. Only the current owner can issue an administrator-level eKey.
    • The second person's app account. Smart Lukko is an independent third-party app for TTLock-compatible locks, not affiliated with TTLock/Sciener, and the second admin needs the app installed and an account of their own.
    • An internet connection for both phones when the eKey is issued and accepted, even though day-to-day unlocking works over Bluetooth alone.

    Step-by-step

    1. Open the lock's eKey or user management screen as the current admin and choose to share access.
    2. Select the administrator permission level rather than a standard or time-limited eKey, if the app offers that distinction for the lock model.
    3. Send the eKey to the second person's account, typically by entering their registered email or phone number.
    4. Have them accept it in their own app. The lock then appears in their lock list with elevated permissions.
    5. Verify what they can do. Ask them to try adding a test passcode to confirm the elevated eKey came through correctly.

What admins can and cannot do

An administrator eKey grants day-to-day management power, but the lock still recognises only one true owner — the account it was originally bound to.

    ActionSecond adminOriginal owner
    Add/remove passcodes, cards, fingerprintsUsually yesYes
Share standard eKeys with guestsUsually yesYes
Grant another administrator eKeyVaries by lock/appYes
Unbind the lock from the accountNoYes
    Factory reset via the appNoYes

Because the lock has no concept of "co-owners," revoking the second admin's access is always possible from the original owner's account, but the reverse is not true.

    Common mistakes

    • Sharing the owner account's password instead of an eKey. This gives the second person full account control, including the ability to lock out the original owner, and is rarely necessary.
    • Assuming an administrator eKey survives a factory reset. A physical reset clears every eKey, admin or otherwise, from the lock.
    • Granting admin access to short-term guests. Time-limited standard eKeys are safer for anyone who does not need to manage other users.
    • Not periodically reviewing who holds admin eKeys. Access does not expire on its own unless it was issued with a validity window.

    Frequently asked questions

Can two people be equal owners of the same TTLock-compatible lock?

Not exactly. The lock recognises one account as the true owner. A second person can be given an administrator eKey with most of the same day-to-day powers, but only the original owner can unbind or factory reset the lock through the app.

What can a second admin not do?

A second admin generally cannot remove the lock from the account or perform an app-based factory reset. Those actions stay with the original owner who first bound the lock.

Is it safe to share an administrator eKey?

Only share it with someone you trust to manage other users' access, since an admin eKey can add and remove passcodes and eKeys for everyone else on the lock.

Does adding a second admin work without the internet?

No, issuing and accepting the eKey requires both phones to be online at that moment, even though normal unlocking afterwards works over Bluetooth alone.

How do I remove a second admin's access?

The original owner opens the lock's user or eKey list in their app and deletes that person's eKey. It takes effect the next time their phone syncs or connects to the lock.
